As the saying goes, it is better to see once for yourself than to hear a hundred times from others. We welcome reporters to visit China more often and see more of our country. We hope that after the Party Congress, you will continue to cover China’s development and progress, and learn about and write reports on a panoramic China. We do not need praise from others; what we welcome are objective reporting and constructive suggestions. Just as a line from an old Chinese poem reads: “I desire no compliments from others; what I want is that my integrity will fill the universe.”

With unfolding of international and regional developments, our two parties and countries face many common or similar new problems and challenges. As a Chinese saying goes, “Just as polishing refines a piece of jade, adversity makes one stronger.” A Vietnamese saying goes, “Do not put down your oar just because the waves run high.” As good neighbors, friends, comrades and partners with a shared future, we will uphold and further grow our relations, support each other’s endeavor to maintain stability, pursue reform and improve people’s lives, and jointly advance the cause of socialism and promote peace, stability, openness and development in our region.

Development is a journey with no end, but one new departure point after another. An ancient Chinese philosopher once observed, “We should focus our mind on the future, not the past.” We live in a fast-changing world, and the global economy is undergoing more profound changes. We must closely follow the trend of the global economy, identify its underlying dynamics, keep to the right direction and, on that basis, take bold action.

As an old Chinese saying goes, “A commitment, once made, should be delivered.” Boosting development in the Asia-Pacific requires real actions by all of us members.
