世界卫生组织总干事谭德塞宣布，将新型冠状病毒感染的肺炎命名为“COVID-19”。

　　WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced that the novel coronavirus pneumonia has a new name: COVID-19.

　　在世卫组织、世界动物卫生组织以及联合国粮农组织的共同指导原则下，我们必须找到一个不涉及地理位置、动物、个人或人群，同时方便发音且与疾病有关的名称。

　　Under agreed guidelines between WHO, the World Organization for Animal Health, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, we had to find a name that did not refer to a geographical location, an animal, an individual or group of people, and which is also easy to pronounce and related to the disease.

　　为该疾病命名很重要，因为可以避免使用其他不准确或是污名化的名称，同时也为未来可能出现的其他冠状病毒疫情提供一个标准格式。

　　Naming the disease/virus matters because it will prevent the use of other names that might be inaccurate or stigmatizing. It also gives us a standard format to use for other coronavirus outbreaks in the future.

　　世卫组织不鼓励在病毒传播率低的国家和地区囤积个人医疗防护装备。

　　WHO discourages stockpiling of personal protective gear in countries or regions where the transmission rate is low.

　　国家卫健委正就联合专家组访华具体安排同世卫组织保持密切沟通。

　　The National Health Commission is in close contact with WHO to arrange a visit by a WHO-coordinated expert team to China.
